George Kirkinis is a South African writer, filmmaker, and surfer. After completing his Masters in Literature at the University of Edinburgh he moved to India where he lectured poetry for a stint and then hitchhiked with his surfboard up the entirety of the coast. He returned home to write a novel and to teach in rural Zululand, and it was alone in a forest that he discovered his photographic ability. He then moved to Cape Town with this new discovery in tow, and he began working as an underwater cameraman and edit producer on an African Wildlife Documentary Series. When he is not filming sharks along the African Coast, or looking for waves in remote locations, George busies himself with his writing and his music. Though his career has taken him through many different avenues of artistic expression, the ocean has always remained a constant muse.
